Document type

It is a mandatory certificate for all cargo destined for Togo.
agent/freight forwarder, using the information provided by the exporter and importer in Togo.


📑 Documents required to obtain the BESC Togo

  • Bill of Lading (B/L) – draft and final

  • Commercial invoice (indicating currency and country of origin)

  • Packing List

  • Freight invoice (if not included in the commercial invoice)

  • Customs export document (DUA or equivalent from the country of origin)

  • Certificate of origin (if applicable)

  • Complete details of the importer in Togo (commercial registry / NIF)


What happens if you don’t process the BESC?

  • Retention or blocking of cargo at the Port of Lomé

  • Fines and surcharges applied by port and customs authorities

  • Significant delays in clearance and delivery

  • Risk of rejection or immobilization of the goods


🕒 When should it be processed?

It must be processed before the ship’s departure and confirmed with the final B/L information.


🧾 Where is it processed?
Through agents authorized by the Conseil National des Chargeurs du Togo (CNCT) or their official representatives, both in Togo and abroad.
